Heavy

The Cage

April 2, 2002

Dreams control our every motion
Instinct guides the steady hand
People wear masks of devotion
Cities sink into the sand
Sanity will soon escape me
Drowning in my troubled mind
Nothing in this world can stop me
Inhibition left behind

Trapped inside a solemn prison
Is it of my own creation?
Trapped by obsolete tradition
This breeds all of my frustration
Ignorance is right behind me
Failure staring in my face
Can I change this broken system
Before I meet Death's embrace?

Life becomes a tangled burden
How long can you bare the weight?
Lay down in my shadow garden
Just before you suffocate
Seek the exit in the shadows
Seek the answers drawn in blood
Feel the chill run through your marrow
Now the truth is understood

Silent tears can break the mountain
Innocence has died today
Trust has always been a poison
Tolerance will fade away
Heathens dance around the fire
Glorify the faceless god
Greed revives their old desire
Stricken like a lightning rod

Ever-watchful vigilante
Point your crooked finger at me
Laws are written in graffitti
Go ahead an say you hate me
Words make deeper scars than bullets
Bleeding wounds that never heal
Words can echo in the silence
When you say what you can't feel

Go and hide behind your morals
Go and smite the infidels
Justice is just and opinion
Go and blow them all to Hell
I can see it growing in you
Raging hate creates decay
Two wrongs make us fucking equal
Those who hurt you have to pay...
